Never underestimate the power of consistency. 😊 Never underestimate the power of consistency. 😊💪 Showing up for yourself even for short periods of time gets results.

Early morning abs.🔥 9 exercises - 3 sets of 10. I’m using a medicine ball (it feels like a weighted basketball) that weighs 8lbs. The weight and the added instability add challenge.😁😅 I hope you get some good ideas from this one. 

I don’t ask myself if I feel like working out.  I show up and adjust accordingly.  A trail run can always turn into a walk.  A core workout can always turn into a stretch. 

I find it really difficult to tell the difference between fatigue and laziness/lethargy until I get going.  Once I get moving I have a chance to really tune into how my body feels.  On my laziest days, I’ve had my best workouts.

Early morning daily ab routine. I’m half asleep Early morning daily ab routine.  I’m half asleep with very messy hair but on the mat for my morning abs. 10 minutes a day adds up to big results. 😴💪😊😊😊

There’s a lot of technique involved in getting a good core engagement and better results.  Here are a few of my favourite tips.

1. Keep your abs as flat as possible while engaging them.  Pick up your pelvic floor and squeeze your abs into midline to help flatten them.

2. When your legs are off the ground during ab work, your low back should reach to the mat (no arching!) and your abs should reach towards your spine.  The lower your legs go, the harder this is to achieve.  I’m demonstrating this in video 3.

3. When up on the forearms or in plank, press the ground away to avoid collapsing into the shoulders.  Lengthen your waist.

4. Connect to your breath.  On the inhale expand the back of your rib cage keeping your breath ‘low and wide’. On the exhale, lift the pelvic floor and squeeze your abs into midline.

Wobble board + stability chair = crazy balance cha Wobble board + stability chair = crazy balance challenge. 😆😆😅🔥🔥🔥

Years ago, while I was trail running, a huge dog jumped on me mid-stride.  I severed a ligament in my ankle and it took me a year to return to trail running.

The wobble board and the stability chair helped me heal my injury and more.  Now I can’t even tell which ankle was injured. 😊

Balance workouts can look like a hot mess, but they offer a LOT of benefits. They:

1. Improve balance
2. Improve posture
3. Help rehabilitate injuries 
4. Build injury resilience 
5. Increase core strength
6. Improve motor skills and reaction time

Over the years, I’ve perfected the art of doing a side somersault out of bed straight onto the mat. 😆 It’s definitely my best time for achieving consistency.  I usually start work at 6:30am, so 5:30am it is. 

I’m a huge fan of doing a daily core routine.  Nothing has transformed my body more, both in strength and how I feel in my skin.

I don’t think core workouts need to be extreme or incredibly intense to be effective. If you show up consistently and work hard with good form, you’re going to get results. You’ll get more and more impressive results over time. Harder exercises simply become a natural progression.
